Pop Culture

I think we cannot live without pop culture. We are listening pop music, watching pop movie, focus on pop events. Since I came to U.S, I found I have a little bit follow pop culture here. I changed my style by follow American fashion, such as clothing style. I think the style here is different from my country. I changed my behaviors by pop culture. For example, I became to eat fast food here. I think pop culture influence me a lot, no matter thought or action.

I learn a lot of American culture from this class, such as movies, technology, Glog, three words and so on. From movies part, I noticed that the movies review is quite important. Movie is a mirror of the pop culture. Form this class, I realized that technology also influence pop culture. I gain knowledge from Glog and three words parts, to know how to interview and try to do the popular events, like make a Glog, make three words. I think from this class I catch up with the society a little bit.

Reading

The reading “The Digital Music Renaissance” is one of the interesting readings i read. It is about downloading music. The reading made me think about the music download is right or not. The author said that some of the people are not support the free music download online. In my opinion, in the modern world, everybody had tried to download the free music online. I think that’s good. If we have to pay the music we download online, I think we will listen less music. As known that music is the spirit in our life. We can’t life without music. It will become deficiency.

Music

I always say music is the spirit in our life. We can't live without music. I really love music. My favorite song is "The Show" is by my favorite artist is Lenka. I really love this song. It is make a Metaphor of life being a show. Cheer up the people for the terrible life. It is Crowd-pleasing.
The lyric is talking about how to face to the trouble in the life. Through the song presentation I felt a little bit confidence in myself. I learn an important part in the pop culture.

Movies

Death Note

One day, if you found a death note which can kill people by writing down names on it, what would you do? Can you imagine how Shinigami is?

This is a Japanese movie which was release on June 17, 2006. The movie genres are action, drama, horror, mystery, psychological, supernatural. The director is Shusuke Kaneko. The main actors are Fujiwara Tatsuya and Kenichi Matsuyama. The supporting actor is Takeshi Kaga. The supporting actress is Shigeki Hosokawa. Death Note rating is PG and runs 120 minutes. It is about the battle of wits.

Yagami Light is a brilliant college student. One day, he finds a notebook called Death Note. Inside of this book is list of rules and details for how to use it. When Light realizes the power he holds, he decides to change the world. He wants to make it into a better place by killing the bad people. The internet calls him Kira. L is a brilliant detective who lives in secrecy. He knows the event and puts his life on the line trying to capture Light. L and Light believe themselves on the side of Justice. They battle of wits. Who is the final winner in these two geniuses?

This is a cat-and-mouse game between Light and L. It is fascinating. Both characters are considerably intelligent and they are trying to uncover the other's identity.

L is very smart that using the idea to notice where is Kira. He uses news. On the news a person called Lind. L. Tailor who simulate as L, talks about how he’ll capture Kira and that Kira will be defeated. Light writes Lind L Tailor’s name on the death note. The simulate L dies of a heart attack. The broadcast then switched to the real L with his logo. L clarifies where Kira is because the news just broadcasts in one place.

The movie is only engaging in the sense and you have to spend more time thinking. I recommend this movie. The movie is unique and interesting. I think this movie is more of thinking rather than horror. The movie is a mixture of humor, sadness, irony and so on. I like the two main characters, the battle of wits. You can’t imagine what will they do next and the ideas which they use are very smart. You cannot miss this movie. The movie’s rating is 5 stars.

Technology

I think in the modern time no one can live without technology. I am one of the examples. I can’t live without computer, cell phone, and internet and so on. In the daily time, I always use cell phone contact with my friends, using computer to finish homework, contacting on the internet to know about what happened in the world, using iPod when I am boring. I think computer, cell phone, and internet are absolutely necessary for us. Can we contact with anyone without it in the modern time? No. Overall, technology is a benefit in my life in the contact way. I think the technology is one of the very important parts in the popular culture. Such as the technology can transmission the pop culture’s information to everyone. The technology can make the pop culture become higher quality. In my opinion, technology is one of the important parts in our life.

Glog

This is the first time I interview people. I worked with our group. It is kind of fun. We went to the millennium park to find the suitable people. It is hard to find people who are really know about culture. Fortunately, we found an old woman who was a teacher. She knew a lot of culture. Form her we know about in her age what viewpoint they support to the pop culture. The most important thing is I learn a lot of things through it.

TV

There are many popular TV shows in American media. It shows in a lot of famous channels, such as BBC, NBC, ABC and so on. One of pop TV shows I watched is top model. It shows how to be a model and what is the fashion right now. I think is good to noticed what are in fashion. It is a mirror about pop culture. It shows what is going to be fashion and what is popular in nowadays. It made me know about more about the America fashion culture.
